In your opinion, what builds trust in a relationship, and what can damage it?

In my opinion, I would say communication in a relationship is the way that trust is built. This does not just apply to your partner, but also in friendships and in family too. I think communication is the most important thing because if you don't communicate how are you supposed to know if something is wrong with the relationship, then the tension builds up and then there are more problems because the first problem is not solved.  Keeping secrets and lying is what builds trust. Especially if communication is the most important thing in the relationship. It creates mistrust and suspicion.
