Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person? I wrote about one of my friendship breakups yesterday and it relates to this prompt as well. When i separated myself from my toxic friend, she wanted to talk about our situation. We talked and i told her about how I felt when we were friends and how she would always leave me out and stuff. She wanted to become friends again, but i had to set boundaries and ask if i could have some time alone from her.  This kind of helped and hurt my connection. I had to put myself first because of the experience that i had with her. We are not still friends, but sometimes i smile at her in the hallway and i still tell her happy birthday. But it was an important boundary that had to be made.  summary- I did the commonlit today in class.  reflection- reading and analyzing structure and meaning of the poem "Mending Wall" ...

Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected

Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected \\ When i was in seventh grade, I had a trio of best friends. We did everything together and we would always hang out on Friday. It was so much fun and i thought it would be like that forever. But mid year during seventh grade. Our trio started to feel more like a duo, with me being the one who is left out. But it got resolved eventually and we were better again. But over the summer i had a fight with the girl i was closer to in the group and i just felt disconnected again. During 8th grade, i was put in different classes than my other 2 friends. I just felt disconnected and lost. It was so strange how fast our friendship changed. It did not feel like a good change at the time. Yet during 8th grade, i grew and connected with new people i never would have.  summary- i was not present for class today, but I read from this post that we read a poem. reflection- digging deeper into the meaning o...

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?  My favorite vocab word right now is deference . This is my favorite word because it can be used with power. Its like a more powerful word for respect and it makes you sound smart. I also think that respect is really important when it comes to people and interacting and being able to understand people. I don't use the word very often because people don't know that the word means.  summary- we worked on our presentaion today. reflection- thinking more about my childhood.

Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?  For me, imagination helps me with all three things. When I am bored, usually I start to day dream to deal with the boredom that is not in my head. I like thinks about different  things that entertain me. I also deal with stress though imagination. I like to think of a fun memory that will keep me from being stressed and thinking about whatever is stressing me out. During challenges, i like to use my imagination to pretend that my mother is there with me and helping me over come my challenge,  summary-  today we read and analyzed a poem in class and started a project. reflection- learning how to read and analyze poems.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

After reading  “Out, Out—”  by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome? When I was in middle school, I went hiking with my older sister in the woods. All was going well and we were following the trail when suddenly her phone died. We did not have a map or anything and we were trying to find the trail. This was around 5pm so it would start getting dark soon. The situation wasn't really dangerous but it was stressful and we were under pressure. I was nervous and was afraid that we were lost. We decided to turn around and try and retrace our steps. We were feeling really lost because we couldn't remember what turns we took. But we eventually found some people and they gave us their map. We got out around 30 minutes later. We were very concentrated on finding out way out and it was rewarding.  summary- we read...

What did you do over fall break?

What did you do over fall break? During fall break, I went to the beach with my family. We went to Panama City beach and it was so beautiful. The water was really clear and you could see all the different sea creatures. There were many colorful fish, sea snails on the rocks and hermit crabs in the water. It was so cool to see all the different animals in the ocean and see how they live. My best friend also joined us for our trip and it was so much fun.. One thing I do to enjoy my day is listening to music. I love music so much and I use it to help calm me down and appreciate the beauty that i see everyday. And my favorite thing is to match my music with my mood. I also love when i step outside and it smells fresh and nice. Especially when it is cooler, i love the smell of the fresh air. Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.   A time that someone has had a lasting impact was last year, I was talking to my mom about how someone was pissing me off at dance, and how they were just doing everything wrong and how they never knew what they were doing in the dance. She listened to me talking about this person and when I was done she asked me to see the situation from the girl's point of view. She probably feels really bad and maybe is struggling at home. Looking at a situation from different perspectives can easily show you how your perspective is not the only thing going on. It is important to have empathy in these types of situations, because you never know the struggles that they are facing.  summary- today we worked on our argumentative paragraph for the " Ambush"  and we had a short mini lesson on informal and formal language. They all seemed innocent and playful and just kids. It made me sad because I felt as though I could not go back to being that young. And then it got dark and I felt lost and I didn't know were to go.
